GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The Diploma in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing and Media is a three-year programme that prepares students for careers in fashion communication within a commercial context.
The programme focuses on marketing, merchandising, and media, equipping students with the skills to position, promote, and communicate fashion products effectively across retail and digital platforms.
Through a combination of theory and applied practice, students develop capabilities in consumer analysis, brand communication, content creation, and retail strategy. The programme fosters independent thinking and the ability to respond to the demands of a rapidly evolving fashion industry.
Graduates are prepared for roles in fashion marketing, visual merchandising, brand communication, social media management, and content creation

THE STRUCTURE
The programme is structured around four integrated areas of study: Fashion Theory, Merchandising, Business Studies, and Media. All modules are compulsory and credit-bearing. No electives are offered.

FASHION THEORY
Includes: Fashion History & Trend Analysis, Communication & Social Studies
This component develops an understanding of the cultural, social, political, and economic forces that shape fashion. Students engage with fashion as both a system of meaning and a commercial industry, building the ability to analyse past and current trends and apply this insight to future forecasting within retail contexts.

MERCHANDISING
Includes: Retail Merchandise Management, Fashion Styling, Fashion Advising
This area focuses on the operational and experiential aspects of the retail environment. Students develop an understanding of product planning, store experience and customer engagement, learning how merchandising strategies support both brand identity and sales performance.

MARKETING
Includes: Business Principles & Practice, Marketing & Consumer Behaviour, Fashion Public Relations & Events Management, Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
This component builds a foundation in brand strategy, marketing and consumer engagement. Students learn to research, conceptualise and implement marketing and retail strategies that respond to consumer needs and industry dynamics, supported by an understanding of business operations within the fashion sector.

MEDIA
Includes: Fashion Journalism, Computer-Aided Design, Smartphone Photography & Videography
This area develops skills in visual, written and digital communication. Students explore content creation across multiple platforms, learning how to communicate fashion narratives effectively for both physical and online retail environments.
