Unstitched: The FEDISA Fashion School's Brand New Podcast Launches Today!

Today, FEDISA Fashion School is launching something new: Unstitched, a student-hosted podcast that takes listeners behind the seams and into the classrooms, careers, and creative minds shaping African fashion's next generation.
Episode one, "Everything, All at Once," is live now everywhere podcasts are found. It's the first of six episodes in Season 1, with new episodes releasing every Thursday from here. If you're a student, a lecturer, or just someone who's curious about what's really going on inside a fashion school, this is one to subscribe to.
Why "Unstitched"?
The name comes from something the hosts talked about early on: that becoming who you're meant to be sometimes means pulling apart who you were told to be first. In the words of main host Amy Gajjar, a FEDISA lecturer:
"Unstitched" means having the courage to pull at the threads, unravel the stories we've been given, and discover who we are underneath it all. Sometimes, we have to come undone to become who we're meant to be.
For co-host Rachel Motau, it's about something more personal:
"Unstitched" means freedom from the expectations, labels, and experiences that have shaped who I'm supposed to be. It's about unraveling, redefining, and choosing for myself what I want to become, and putting it out there so people know that there are more of us out here.
And for co-host Yadah Mungwe, it's about honesty the industry doesn't always make room for: "Unstitched" means revealing all of the fashion industry secrets that aren't spoken about enough in a South African fashion industry context.
Three different answers, one shared idea: this podcast is about pulling at threads until something true comes loose.
Meet the hosts
Amy Gajjar is a lecturer at FEDISA Fashion School and the show's main host. She brings the industry and classroom perspective, having spent years teaching the students who are now stepping into the fashion world themselves.
Rachel Motau and Yadah Mungwe are FEDISA students and co-hosts, bringing the voice and perspective of the people actually living the FEDISA experience right now, from studio deadlines to industry firsts.
Together, the three of them anchor a show that sits somewhere between a classroom conversation and a late-night catch-up with people who genuinely have something to say about fashion in South Africa.
What to expect in Episode 1
Season 1, Episode 1, "Everything, All at Once," is a little over an hour long and does exactly what the title promises. New voices, big questions, and a lot happening all at once. The hosts introduce themselves, unpack what FEDISA is really like from the inside, and get into the creative journeys, student life, and conversations that will shape the rest of the season.
It's less a polished pilot and more an open door: come see who's behind the mic and what they're planning to talk about over the next five episodes.
