Dear Allen

It was a great privilege for Estelle and I to showcase  FEDISA to our Swiss principals, Claude Dreyer - Chief Executive Officer and Hermann Kuhn – Vice President Marketing & Sales. Both gentlemen were extremely interested to see what you have achieved and, of course share our pride in the support given to BERNINA.

Our visit on Thursday, 22 January 2009 was highlighted by your discourse, which was informative, also giving us a glimpse of the passion you instill into the institute and its people. Not only was this infectious, but wonderfully inspirational, making our time at FEDISA truly memorable.

We have since then had discussions with Derick Stevens, our Johannesburg principal, to consolidate the outline proposals, which we have previously touched on. Through the good offices and immense support of Derick, it is our pleasure to offer the following components of a sponsorship package valued at well over R150 000 for your consideration.

International Website

BERNINA has agreed to place FEDISA links onto their website and a short resume in a format of your choice should now be prepared and forwarded through to us for implementation.

Bursary Fund

Permission has been given by BERNINA for our “Southern Suburbs” dealership to run a fundraising drive to contribute towards a bursary for a nominated second year student. Generation of funds will flow initially from the following sources:

Raffle of a “BERNINA Sewing Centre”, contributed by BERNINA South Africa, comprising:

  • Activa sewing machine
  • Overlock machine
  • Domena press
  • Rebate discount from Bernina South Africa on all machines sold to FEDISA students
  • Rebate discount from Bernina Southern Suburbs on all machines sold to FEDISA students

Classroom Equipment

Added to the range of equipment already in use, we are pleased to contribute a further Domena Steam Press for the use of students. We have contributed this in conjunction with BERNINA South Africa.

Educational Equipment

You will be aware that BERNINA International AG launched the Crown Jewel among sewing machines, the BERNINA “8 Series”, in July 2008 in the United States. This series is scheduled for release into the South African market mid 2009 and there is a buzz in the marketplace as a result.

Derick Stevens has negotiated with Claude Dreyer that a complimentary BERNINA 830 combo sewing & embroidery machine be gifted to FEDISA. This machine has new capability in both sewing and embroidery and we anticipate that it will facilitate the institute and its students to embark further into frontiers not emphasized to date. This machine will be delivered together with “Designer Plus” digitizing software. We hope that the introduction of this software will be of interest to you and that it will be viewed as another creative tool to complement the technological cutting edge of FEDISA and facilitate the competitive advantage of your students.

We are delighted that our Principals have assisted us in formulating this unique and significant sponsorship, unparalleled in the South African network of BERNINA Dealers. By copy of this letter to Messrs Dreyer and Stevens we express our appreciation of this fact.

In closing we thank you, Allen, for the support you have given us in servicing the needs of both the institute and its students. We are especially pleased that it has been possible for our respective organizations and staff to cooperate closely over the past three years and we look forward to this widening and developing into the future.

Yours sincerely

Estelle & Neil Wilshere
